There's an unmistakable nod to Italy in this one: a lantern-shaped ornament banded in a green-and-white checkerboard on one side and red-and-white on the other, in the colors of Italian design, with red and blue polka dots scattered through the squares and a gold sunburst reflector, its center touched with pink, set right at the middle.

Part of Kenzies of London's Sicilian Carretto Collection, a line inspired by the vibrant folk art and painted carts of Sicily, it begins as hand-blown Polish glass, shaped by skilled artisans before every checkerboard square, dot, and sunburst ray is hand-painted, a process that means slight variations from piece to piece, so no two are ever quite alike.
